Racialized group, ethnicity, and indigenous identity
<u>Racialized group:</u> A social construct used to judge and categorize people based on perceived differences in physical appearance in ways that create and maintain power differentials within social hierarchies.<br/><u>Ethnicity</u>: A multi-dimensional concept referring to community belonging and a shared cultural group membership.<br/><u>Indigenous Identity:</u> The person’s self-identification as (1) First Nations (registered member of a First Nations community as defined by the <i>Indian Act</i>), (2) Inuk/Inuit (enrolled under or a beneficiary of an Inuit land claims agreement) or (3) Métis (registered member of a Métis organization or settlement).<br/>
